Work education is education for life.
The craft group teaches for life and work and disseminates knowledge and skills in woodworking and metalworking. By focusing on practical work, children and adolescents learn to take holistic care for the living environment.
In the craft group, children and adolescents get familiar with various work techniques in the living area and in various working environments with the aim of preparing the adolescents for autonomous life and work after leaving the institution.
The adoption of work habits by a child goes hand in hand with the maintenance and acquisition of motor skills, social and communication skills. We strive for our children or adolescents to internalize work habits and incorporate them into their daily lives. Children and adolescents strengthen their work habits by performing certain tasks which include learning, repetition and exercise. A child or adolescent is guided through the process of thinking about how tasks are performed, and to test their thinking and ideas in practice.
This is how the individual’s creativity is developed and practical work experience is acquired. And at the same time, they develop perseverance, accuracy and responsibility, and take care of themselves and the living environment. The areas covered by the craft group: learning about work as the basic value for existence, learning about occupations, manual processing and machining of materials. It is performed four times a week in the afternoons.
The purpose of the group is to equip children with skills and knowledge to help them enter the labour market. Therefore, we also associate with the independent entrepreneurs in the vicinity, where young people can become acquainted with the work of an independent entrepreneur in practice.
