SILA stands for Slovene International Ladies Association, founded in 1993. It is a non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit organization with a number of ladies varying from 120 to 150. The members are coming from over 30 countries in the world: spouses of diplomatic and business representatives living temporarily or permantly in Slovenia. Our members include Slovene ladies as well.
SILA encourages sociable, cultural and educational gatherings of its members. The main goal is to foster deeper mutual understanding among ourselves and to expand our knowledge of Slovenia and the rest of the world. An important part of our activities is also organizing sociable and charitable events, like SILA bazaar, in order to collect money to help people in need.
Social life in SILA is very rich. We organize special events, encourage language activities, meet monthly at the book club, arrange concerts and trips to Slovenia, take part in sports activities, meet each other in their own kitchens and share cooking skills.
Every month we have a meeting at Hotel Lev and we always have a guest speaker about a different topic.
Zato smo izjemno ponosni, da so si predsednica društva SILA, gospa INDRA, z dvema članicama, odločile svoj dragoceni čas nameniti obisku Vzgojnega zavoda Planina, oziroma otrokom in mladostnikom. Predstavili smo jim delo v vzgojnem zavodu, gospe so si ogledale tudi stanovanjske hišice, šolo in delavnice. Ob tem so se srečevale z otroki in mladostniki, ki so jim tudi zapeli.
Iskreno se jim zahvaljujemo za izkazano skrb in zanimanje za problematiko naših otrok in mladostnikov. Veselimo se sodelovanja z njimi, najbolj pa se bomo skušali izkazati na letošnjem BAZARJU.
